Creating Safety

I’m Geinel, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Texas, and the founder of Honestly Speaking Solutions. My mission is to create a space where you can show up fully, without shrinking, code switching, or apology.

Background

Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than a decade working in higher education, tech, and community mental health. Throughout my career, I saw a pattern that deeply shaped my purpose. Many Black and Brown individuals felt they couldn’t show up authentically in those spaces. Too often, they had to leave parts of themselves at the door, even in environments meant to help them heal. And when they finally sought support, they weren’t always met with understanding or cultural awareness.

As a Black woman, I know how powerful it is to be in a room with someone who just gets it, someone who understands the unspoken layers of identity, culture, and expectation. That understanding inspired the creation of Honestly Speaking Solutions: a space where you don’t have to code switch, over-explain, or quiet the parts of yourself that make you who you are.

I’m passionate about helping individuals and couples find what success alone can’t provide, peace of mind, emotional freedom, and a deeper connection to themselves and the people they love.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is collaborative, intentional, and rooted in relationship. I see each client as a whole person with a story, not a list of symptoms to fix. Our work is guided by honesty, reflection, and care, creating an experience designed to help you feel both grounded and empowered.

I integrate person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic techniques through a culturally responsive lens. This means therapy is always tailored to your unique background, strengths, and goals. Together, we identify patterns, heal old wounds, and create meaningful change that lasts beyond our sessions.

Most importantly, therapy should feel safe, affirming, and real. My role is to walk alongside you as you reconnect with yourself, redefine what healing looks like, and begin to live with greater peace and authenticity.

Culturally Responsive and Affirming

Healing looks different for everyone. Our culture, upbringing, and lived experiences shape how we see ourselves and how we move through the world. My work is rooted in honoring those differences and creating a space where your full identity is seen, valued, and respected.
I provide care that acknowledges the impact of culture, race, gender, and life experience on your emotional well-being. Together, we explore how these parts of your story influence the way you think, feel, and connect with others.

This is a space where you do not have to explain or shrink who you are. Your story and your identity belong here. My goal is to help you feel grounded in your truth and empowered to move through the world with confidence, clarity, and self-compassion.
